A 2021 House of Dreams Update...

Our team has exciting news to share!

First of all, the title of our musical has officially changed. We are now House of Dreams!

After our record-breaking San Diego run in 2019, we have been working hard to make many improvements necessary for a potential Broadway run. With Executive Producer and 7-time Tony award winner Barry Weissler guiding our direction forward, we believe that this is our time. The country is finally opening up and Broadway, in particular, is getting itself ready to welcome back the theater-hungry public. House of Dreams, with its inspiring story and many hit & iconic songs, is the perfect antidote for a world that has experienced much-too-much tumult and tragedy.

Our production team of Brad Ross, Jonathan Rosenberg and Michael Kruke, are thrilled to announce that our San Diego creative team consisting of Javier Velasco (Director & Choreographer) and Steve Gunderson (Musical Arranger) are continuing on this journey with us. We will be in New York City's "The New 42 Studios" for a two-week workshop, culminating in 3 performances on September 30th and October 1st. Based on the successful outcome in NYC, we will then determine our path moving forward toward our goal of Broadway and beyond.

2020 - Year in Review for 33 1/3 - House of Dreams

It has been a busy year for the House of Dreams team which culminated, just days ago, in an agreement with Broadway legend and 7-time Tony Award winner Barry Weissler and his theatrical company NAMCO (National Artists Management Company) in NYC.  Brad, Michael and Jonathan are beyond excited that Barry and his team see Broadway in the not-so-distant future, starting with a New York City workshop in spring 2021. NAMCO will serve us in the Executive Producer and General Management roles.

Joining us on this journey are our director/choreographer, Javier Velasco, and musical arranger, Steve Gunderson.  Their talents have moved our story to the next level and beyond and we are fortunate to have them on our team.  This year, the creative team of Brad, Jonathan, Javier and Steve engaged the help of dramaturgs Shirley Fishman (La Jolla Playhouse) and Megan Smith (Daryl Roth Productions, NYC). Together they spent most of the year revising the script to get it closer to Broadway-ready.  In the Fall we had a Zoom meeting with a talented group of Broadway actors reading our updated script that assured Barry that 33 1/3 – House of Dreams was worthy of his commitment.  Sufficed to say, we were thrilled.

Throughout the year, our past executive producer Cody Lassen (NYC) has been a tremendous team member. Our bi-weekly calls with him have been informative and his counsel has helped get us to where we are today.  With Barry taking over the executive producer role, Cody will continue to be a valuable resource in his new role as co-producer and avid supporter of our production.

Our families have been extremely supportive as the three of us continue to navigate the wonderful world of theater. Covid-19 may have slowed but will not stop our goal to be on Broadway. We believe that 33 1/3 – House of Dreams is the perfect theatrical musical with its great story, incredible hit songs, and a trip back in time to bring people back to the theater. We hope to see you there.

Here’s to 2021!
